我们如何激励年轻一代实现 STEM (科学、技术、工程、数学) 教育

 

为了激发当地青年对 STEM 教育的兴趣, Semrock 公司和男孩和女孩俱乐部(Boys & Girls Club)合作,在位于纽约州罗彻斯特的 Semrock 公司里举办了一场活动。 Semrock 派出了一组工程师和产品经理。 在这次活动中,青年能够更多地了解 STEM,并特别深入了解光学领域。什么是 STEM?

STEM 是一个基于对科学、技术、工程和数学四个特定学科的学生进行教育的课程。这种教学方法允许学生设计问题的解决方案,并构建基于证据的解释现实世界情况。

我们如何激励年轻一代实现 STEM (科学、技术、工程、数学) 教育

 

在这次活动中,我们分享了 STEM 相关的个人故事,我们的专业背景,并描述了我们在 IDEX Health & Science 中的角色。 然后,我们提供了一个关于光与光学的教程,并专门教青年如何在生命科学研究中使用 Semrock 的光学滤光片。 接下来,我们提供了一个工厂参观,参加活动的年轻人非常喜欢在生产区域的自动操作的机器人。 我们展示了如何使用荧光显微镜和 Semrock 的光学滤光片来观察生物样品。 每个青年轮流使用显微镜查看各种滤光片,如下图所示。许多年轻人被充满活力的彩色荧光细胞的美丽所吸引。

参加活动的年轻人的收获:更好的了解什么是一个光学企业,一个行业有多大,这次活动是在我公司新址启用后,在罗彻斯特地区举办的类似的活动。 公司的制造区域和楼层也是公司新址启用后,开放给孩子们参观,当然,重要的是,孩子们都收获了很多的乐趣。

纽约州罗彻斯特的男孩和女孩俱乐部(Boys & Girls Club)提供青年发展项目,使年轻人获得成为负责任的公民所需的技能和素质。具体而言,本组织努力成为一个学习和成长的场所,与有爱心的成人专业人员发展持续的关系,发展性格并发现未来的新机遇。
